Music Ministry
Within the Music Ministry of Desert Hills Lutheran there are opportunities for everyone to participate in this ministry of our church as soloists, in choirs and instrumental ensembles.
- Summer Singers - Our Summer Singers group begins singing in worship on Sunday, beginning in May and continuing through mid-October. The Summer Singers are directed by Judy Starr Consider joining and making a difference in our music ministry. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
- The Chancel Choir under the direction of Leo Ellison sings at the 8:00 a.m. Traditional worship services from October through April - they rehearse at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
- The Celebration Singers under the direction of Judy Starr sing at the 9:30 worship service that has a blend of contemporary and traditional music - they rehearse at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
- The Joy Ringers is our handbell choir that provides music at various services throughout the year. They are under the direction of Leo Ellison and rehearse at 2:00 p.m. on Thursdays. During the summer our Summer Singers provide music for the worship services.
- The Voices of Miriam under the direction of Marianna Steele is a women's ensemble that sings on the first and third Sundays throughout the year - they rehearse at 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
- The Clarinet Choir under the direction of Ray Soper and Jim Lockwood.
- The Praise Team sings at the 5:00 p.m. service on Saturday - they rehearse at 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
- The Junior Choir sings quarterly at worship and rehearse Sunday mornings at 9:30. As you can see there is a variety of opportunities to use your musical gifts at Desert Hills Lutheran and we invite you to become a part of our music ministry.
The Worship Arts Team is a group of Desert Hills Lutheran members who explore liturgical art dimensions in our corporate worship experiences through the use of colors, textures, shapes, fabrics and the creative juxtaposition of objects - arts that visually enhance both the ambience around us and God's creative spirit within us as we gather together. Members' artworks in the Narthex and the multiplicited visual arts in the Sanctuary as to encourage personal reflection, inspiration, mystery, and an increased awareness and appreciation of our Immanual "God is With Us."
