Desert Hills Lutheran Church has an active ministry in our community and beyond. In addition to our financial support of organizations who share our mission and vision, we have members sharing their talent and time with local organizations.
Warm clothing for the children and their parents served by the St. Andrew's Children's Clinic (click on the clinic name to view to their web site) in Nogales is being gathered by the Social Concern's Committee in January. Though less than 50 miles away, the temperatures in northern Mexico are significantly colder than Green Valley. Scarves, caps, mittens, sweaters, jackets, warm socks, and blankets can be put in the "St. Andrew's box" in the Fellowship Hall storeroom.
The Social Concerns ministry serves to help people in need with an emphasis on those in the Green Valley and Tucson area. This ministry is involved with Green Valley Food Bank, St. Andrews Children's Clinic, Green Valley Assistance Services, Casa de Esperanza Adult Day Care Program, Lutheran Thrift Store, Grace Home for their Thursday meal program, Primavera, Casa Paloma, New Beginnings, Navajo Lutheran Mission, Crossroads Mission in Nogales AZ and the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod to assist with the response to Hurricane Katrina.
