Women's Ministries

We are Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Grand Canyon Synod, Sunrise/Santa Cruz Conference.

Our Mission/Purpose:

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

Our programs are open to all women in the community and their guests.

♦ Women’s Bible Study

The Bible Study meets the first Monday of each month from October to May from 9:00 to 10:30 am in the fellowship hall.

♦  Women’s Monthly Luncheon Program

The monthly luncheons are the second Monday of each month all year from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm in the fellowship hall. Each month offers a new and exciting speaker.

♦  Sewing Bee

This group meets 9:00 am to noon every Wednesday in the fellowship hall for quilting and making crafts. The women create beautiful quilts of all sizes and colors. Proceeds from the Annual Fall Boutique Quilts, Arts and Crafts Sale (in November) are awarded to various community organizations. Check the church calendar and mark your calendar to attend the sale this year. In addition to quilts and crafts you will find home baked goods and also will be able to enjoy lunch before, while or after you shop.

♦  Ladies Literary League

This ladies book club meets monthly on the fourth Friday at 1:00 pm. The current title will be listed in the weekly bulletin or the Quail Notes newsletter. All women are welcome and invited to join the group.

♦  Navajo Lutheran School

Labels for the Navajo Lutheran Mission are needed. Campbell Soup labels help the Navajo Lutheran Mission in Rock Point, AZ. The program accepts the bar code insignia portion from the labels, so instead of saving the full labels from Campbell’s, Swanson’s, V8, Prego and Franco American products, just save the UPC bar code insignia. Also continue to save General Mills box tops for Education proof of purchase, which the Mission School converts to cash. Make sure you check box tops for expiration dates, and place them in the box near the Women’s bulletin board.

♦  The Gather Magazine

The GATHER magazine includes timely articles on health, wellness, faith, spirituality and a monthly Bible study. Subscriptions are $12 per year and are available from www.augsburgfortress.org or by calling 800-328-4648.
