Worship at Desert Hills Lutheran

Desert Hills Lutheran Church has many service options with a wide variety of worship styles, wonderful music, fellowship and service times to hopefully meet everyone’s needs each week. Children are always welcome to join us at any of our worship services. The nursery is available for parents with children from birth to 5 years of age and the nursery attendant is on duty for the Saturday 3:00 & 5:00 pm services and the Sunday 9:45 & 11:15 am services.

♦ Saturday at 3:00 and 5:00 pm

The Saturday worship services are led by our Country Gospel Band with Joe Ferguson as Director. The band can include piano, guitar, bass, steel guitar, drums and fiddles with musicians varying from week to week.

Sunday at 8:00 am

This worship service is the most traditional style of worship offered at DHLC. The service includes Gordon Swanson on organ and, in the winter months, the Chancel Choir directed by Stan Kindzerski. The congregation sings many of the responses (liturgy) which can be found in the Lutheran Book of Worship hymnal. In the summer, while many of the Chancel Choir members are away, we enjoy a variety of musical groups including Men's Choir, quartets and soloists (both vocal and instrumental).

 Sunday at 9:45 am

This worship service is a blend of worship styles with the Celebration Singers during the winter months and the Summer Singers from June until the middle of October accompanied by Gordon Swanson on the organ throughout the year.

 Sunday at 11:15 am

This worship is another blended style of worship with contemporary music. This service is led by Mary Lou Catania on piano and various types of special music offered year round, including the Voices of Miriam and the Men's Chorus.

Healing Prayer Service is offered the 4th Sunday of the month, at 10:45on, in the chapel. This 20-minute service offers hope, light, peace, courage, forgiveness and renewal in body, mind and spirit. Come for yourself, for a friend or for a loved one.

Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third weekends of each month at all services. Here at Desert Hills Lutheran we have an “open table” where all are welcome at His table. Communion is served continuously from multiple stations by intinction which is dipping the bread in the wine/juice. We do not drink from a common cup. Red wine and white grape juice are available at all stations. Gluten free wafers are also available. You may notify an usher if you prefer to be served communion in your pew.

Baptism of infants, children and adults may be arranged by contacting Pastor Martin Overson at the church (520-648-1633). The baptism can be held during one of our worship services or at a private service with the Pastor.

Sunday School classes are held at 9:45 am through May for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. All children (members and visitors) are welcome to join the class as often as possible. Children may be dropped off in the Sunday school room near the West entrance prior to the 9:45 am worship service.

Confirmationclasses are held for 7th and 8th graders (two-year program). If you are interested in having your 7th or 8th grade child attend a Confirmation class, contact Pastor Overson at the church (648-1633).
