The Holy Spirit is often considered the shy member of the Trinity. The Spirit is always pointing back to the life and teachings of Jesus, never to the Spirit’s own accomplishments. Jesus tells his disciples that the work of the Holy Spirit is to continue Jesus’ work and to teach them to confront the brokenness of the world so that it might be drawn to trust in the promises of Jesus. So how do we understand the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in the world? What does this work look like and how can we participate in it?
