The Social Concerns Ministry decided to focus on a more local in-kind drive this year. They reached out to the office manager at Sopori School in Amado, which serves a small student population. After some discussion, Social Concerns Ministry agreed to provide filled backpacks for the entire fifth grade, which consists of 17 students. With the help of its members' donations and its benevolence funds, the ministry was able to fulfill this goal.
On Wednesday, the 17 filled backpacks were delivered to the school principal, who expressed her gratitude and mentioned that the students would love their new backpacks and supplies. The total cost of the project was estimated at $850.
The school, which is part of the Sahuarita Unified School District, encompasses the area from Elephant Head to Arivaca and has many needs, including volunteers. The Social Concerns Ministry is very pleased with its decision to support Sopori School this year.
