Right now, the American Red Cross urges you to donate lifesaving blood to help overcome an emergency blood shortage – a situation so dire that the Red Cross's national blood supply dropped by more than 25% since July 1. It can be tricky to understand what an emergency blood shortage means, but the truth is that, without more blood donations, this emergency blood shortage will only get worse. Blood and blood products cannot be manufactured; it is only through the generosity of donors like you that patients can get the care they need and deserve.
