Estate Sales Team
Reaching out to our neighbors in times of need is a special service that the Estate Sales Team provides to the community. Whether a family is downsizing or moving back home to be near loved ones, the Estate Sales Team will prepare and hold a sale at homes for individuals with a portion of their proceeds going to approved charities in the area. Please reach out to the church office to learn more about this service.
Global Mission Team
The Global Mission Team raises awareness of the work and needs of missions worldwide and encourages making a difference with prayerful and financial responses. Desert Hills Lutheran Church currently provides support for the Young Adults in Global Mission program as well as for three ELCA missionary families serving in Africa, Mexico, and Central America. Annually the team partners with the ELCA's World Hunger and Disaster Response programs to gather "Good Gifts" funds for specific medical, educational, agricultural, nutritional, and spiritual essentials. Meetings are scheduled on the first Friday of each month from 1 – 2:30 pm.
Sewing Bee Ministry
Creates quilts for agencies serving less fortunate adults and children as well as crafts for the Fall Boutique. Meetings are weekly on Tuesdays at 8:30 am. Funds received from purchased quilts are given to charities as are quilts made for those in need.
Social Concerns Ministry
Planning and implementing programs and in-kind donation drives to support high-need individuals and agencies is how the Social Concerns Ministry continues making a difference in Southern Arizona. Their activities include collecting school supplies for children, holding monthly food drives for local food banks, gathering cleaning supplies for elderly neighbors, organizing diaper drives for our youngest neighbors, and sorting clothing and household items for homeless shelters. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month from 9:30 – 10:30 am.
