A history buff, Patsy says it is imperative to pay attention to both written and unwritten history. No one exists in a vacuum. Our decisions and actions leave indelible footprints on those around us and those who will come after us. When Patsy realized she could combine her two passions, history and quilting, it was an epiphany.
Patsy's mission, as an artist and quilter, is to encourage people to explore and expand their awareness of the world around them. Her designs become increasingly complex as she researches her subject. A critical aspect of each quilt is the symbols and quotes that help tell the story. Compositions often include elements that aren't revealed at first glance.
It is said that the eyes are the window of the soul. Patsy says, "If I can lead the viewer to look into a person's eyes and grasp the story's emotion, I'm extremely gratified."
Meet Patsy on January 23 from 2 - 4 PM at Desert Hills Lutheran Church and explore her beautiful portrait quilts. If you are unable to attend, we invite you to explore the hallways on your own and take in her excellent work.
