REFLECTIONS ON MY YEARS AS A CONGREGATION COUNCIL MEMBER Donna | 2026

February 04, 2026

What I learned from my years on council was how much I didn’t know! Running a church is much more complex than I ever imagined. I learned about website redesign, engaging people, space allocation, air conditioners, community outreach, inviting people to church, the price of coffee, budgets, capital spending plans, taking minutes, strategic planning, Robert’s Rules of Order, and so much more. I saw that the DHLC staff are professional, skilled, hard-working, and always friendly. The pastoral care team works 24/7/365 to care for our congregation and provide spiritual growth. Hundreds of volunteers, each with unique talents, bring joy and make a difference every day. I saw that the work at DHLC brings glory to God. Working on the council was personally challenging in a good way. I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve.
