“The Lutheran church has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember,” Gail shared. “Before becoming a member of Desert Hills, I attended the church of my parents and my grandparents, witnessing their steadfast dedication to the Lord and to their church. My father practiced the principle of ‘going to church because we want to, not because we have to,’ which has always guided me and shaped my desire to be involved.”
“I came to Desert Hills initially due to a friendship connection, but my husband and I soon realized we ‘came for a friend and stayed for the fellowship.’ I am someone who needs fellowship and meaningful connections, and I am thankful that we found Desert Hills, where fellowship opportunities are around every corner. The warm community and caring staff made Desert Hills an easy choice for us.”
Things changed for Gail after the sudden loss of her husband. She states, “After the loss of my husband, I began Chaplain Mark’s GriefShare program. GriefShare changed everything for me. I found a ‘tribe of ladies’ who came together with love and reassurance during the difficult days of our grief. We were all in this together. These ladies have become beloved friends. My husband always encouraged me to become more involved in church to ensure I always had a family, and I do have a family at Desert Hills.”
Gail has become involved in many areas of ministry, saying, “I have become involved in so many ways here. I am now greeting and reading scriptures in service.” With a beaming smile, she adds, “I am also on the Food, Fun, and Fellowship Team. Trivia nights are the best! The joy of this group and the fun we have is immeasurable. We laugh all night! I’m even learning things I never knew, like, ‘What’s the longest river in the world?’ It’s so much fun! There are many opportunities for fellowship, laughs, and service at Desert Hills. I have always felt service is a response to grace, and God’s Grace is everywhere at Desert Hills!” Gail jokes, “I don’t attend the Saturday suppers, but I am sure to at least read the menu to see what I am missing.”
Gail is blessed and thankful to be immersed in this wonderful church, loving the Lord and living out her faith here. “Desert Hills is truly a church that serves the Lord and is all about the people. Desert Hills is home,” Gail concluded.
Gail invites you to attend Desert Hills Lutheran Church for weekend worship services and other activities throughout the week. Check the dhlc.org website to learn more.
