The many talents of the women of Desert Hills Lutheran Church were on full display at the September women’s luncheon with eleven women sharing the various gifts God has bestowed upon them. Marie showed her “pour-painting” method, explained how she uses balloons when painting, and shared how she spray-paints water to create a canvas. Joanne gave a humorous reading. Kay showed a collection of her various beautiful quilts and shared how she makes them. Sue and Judith showed their “theater” talent with a skit, “Two Ladies at a Bus Stop.” It was very entertaining and humorous. Kären gave the ladies a “chopping-efficiently” demonstration, detailing how to use and sharpen the appropriate knives and a faster way of chopping to get uniform-shaped pieces. Bonnie, Julie, and Karla performed a skit, “It Escapes Me,” adapted from an essay Bonnie wrote for her first book. Ellie showed and explained how she created her pastel paintings, and Nancy ended the line-up of participants with a stand-up comedy routine that included three funny stories about living with her husband.
One never knows where a talent or well-honed passion will lead, but these ladies have mastered many, and let God take them in various directions. Women's ministry thanks them for sharing their talents with us at our September women’s luncheon. You are invited to join us at our future luncheons where we gain inspiration from the good things in the lives of our speakers.
