Two Artists in Two Media Share a Show for Two Months
As part of a church community outreach program, two local artists, photographer Sandy Ostroff and oil painter Pat Doughty, will share a show of their latest works during January and February at Desert Hills Lutheran Church. Both are long-time Green Valley residents and have been part of the local arts community for many years.
As a Fine Art Photographer, Sandy strives to capture images that tell a story, find beauty, or something strange or unusual. His photographs convey emotions and expose the viewer to new experiences, sometimes in a foreign country and sometimes in one’s backyard. With curiosity, knowledge of his craft, imagination, and a discerning eye, his works are truly memorable.
As an oil painter, Pat works with both brush and palette knife to create impressions of light and color, immersing herself in the ever-inspiring visual and cultural atmosphere of Southern Arizona. The constant changes of seasons, shadows, and patterns push her to explore the boundaries and intersections of realism, impressionism, and abstractions in her visual presentations. Her willingness to accept the challenges of deepening her vision and adaptive techniques bring energy, range, and joy to her art.
The public is invited to join Sandy and Pat at an opening reception held at Desert Hills Lutheran Church, 2150 S Camino del Sol, on Friday, January 10 from 4 to 5:30 PM. The show will run through February in the area accessible via the north entry and will be open to all during regular church hours.
