Stephen Ministry training prepares individuals to provide confidential, one-on-one Christian care to people facing life challenges. The training is interactive and engaging, combining presentations, discussions, videos, skill practices, and spiritual growth activities. It is designed to be a transformative experience, fostering personal and spiritual growth while equipping participants with practical caregiving and relational skills.
Nancy, a current Desert Hills Lutheran Church Stephen Minister, shared, “Before coming to Green Valley, I enjoyed making visitations to home-bound members of my church. I was invited to become a Stephen Minister at my previous church, but I declined because I thought there was too much reading and training, and besides, I was already involved in church activities. When I joined DHLC, there wasn’t a visiting program yet, so I was encouraged to become a Stephen Minister. This time I said, ‘Yes.’ I’m glad I did. Being a Stephen Minister has blessed me greatly, as well as the people I have helped, and the reading and training were not at all what I’d expected. If you’re feeling God tugging you toward this ministry, I’d say, ‘You won’t be sorry, but blessed!’”
Desert Hills Lutheran Church Stephen Ministers Training will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 AM to 2 PM, starting October 16. Contact the church office to be added to the list of participants or to learn more.
