a time of discovery

Listening for what God is calling us at Desert Hills to pursue in the coming years.

Listen to Discover

This summer and fall, Desert Hills is in a time of discovery. We are focusing on what God calls us to pursue in the upcoming years. Our time of discovery listening sessions were very insightful and we thank everyone who participated. During the five sessions, we understood your joys and concerns with the UP, IN, and OUT relationships. Please watch the short video as Pastor Mike Sager shares the next steps in our discovery process. Take time to review the responses provided at each of the sessions, keeping in mind that this was just a step in the overall process of seeing where God is leading Desert Hills. Continued prayer and discernment are needed as the process begins to take shape.

Hearing From Our Neighbors

Hearing From Our Neighbors

God speaks to us from within and through those around us, not just those in the pews next to us. In this time of discovery, we are called to listen to the voices of leaders and key members in our community who hear what the needs are among God’s people. They can also tell us who is hurting, who is forgotten, who is seeking. This part of the process will be conducted by our team of discoverers, members of Desert Hills who have stepped up to guide the process. They will identify and then visit with representatives of our community who are knowledgeable about needs and trends. The hope is to have these interviews completed by mid-September.

The members of this team are Pastor Mike, Jane Brunckhorst, Ted Buethe, Amber Mathewson, Ray Wardlaw, Dawn Tarzian, and Randy Kuehn.

Discernment

Once the listening, both within the church and on the outside, has been completed, the team of discoverers will work with our consultant, Pastor Dave Daubert, to make sense of all the input and discern trends, patterns, and insights that can be gleaned from all the voices they have heard. They will be asking the questions, "What is God calling Desert Hills to be about in the years ahead? How does God want to use us for His purpose in this time and in this place?"
