Kindness Through Forgiveness - Sunday 8 AM
Series: It's Not Always Easy
Summary
Forgiveness is one of the key characteristics of God and of those who are called to follow Jesus and is the only command of Jesus that seems to have a conditional component to it: you are forgiven as you forgive. Those are scary words. It is hard at times for us to forgive. Whether it is forgiving someone who harmed us or forgiving ourselves for poor decisions or mistakes we have made. The problem with our lack of forgiveness is that it taints how we see our world, our neighbor, and ourselves. The more we hang on to the pain or hurt the more it takes control over us and instead of being an isolated incident it takes on a life of its own. You become in bondage to the pain or hurt. Forgiveness is the gift of God to free us to live a new life. It all begins with acknowledging how God has forgiven us in Christ, who gives us the strength that we might begin to forgive.
