Like Everyone Else - Saturday 3 PM
Series:
Summary
We have all prayed for and hoped for things that we thought we needed or wanted at the time. For example, someone might say, “Dad, I want a car. I can afford the payments.” Dad’s response is a reality check, listing off all the expenses involved: gas, tires, insurance, and what happens when the car breaks down. The monthly payment is only one part of the equation.
This weekend, Samuel addresses those who desire a king and the true cost of having one, including the expenses, the people needed to maintain a full-time army, and the other things that come with a king. Yet, they insisted. Sometimes our stubbornness prevents us from listening to God and to others.
When we finally get that first car and have that first unexpected major expense, our dads may think, “I told you so.” However, like God, they will be there with us through our “mistakes.”
