Mary - Sunday 8 AM
Series: Stories of Courage
Summary
During the third week of Advent, we focus on Mary, who is pledged to be married to Joseph and is told she is to have a child from God. Mary hears the invitation of God to be the mother of Jesus. Can you imagine all the questions and fears Mary must have been wrestling with as she heard this invitation from God? What if Joseph or her family abandons her because of this child? What kind of mother would she be to the Son of God? So many questions, so few answers. Mary’s story reminds us that God's invitation to follow, listen, and trust is full of uncertainty. The Christmas story is a call to courage, to trust God in the unknown, and to walk into the mystery of God, believing that God is with us. Despite all her questions and fears, Mary was filled with joy, wonder, and humility that God would choose her to be Jesus’ mother. Mary refused to control her situation, instead, she embraced the mystery of God’s invitation.
