This weekend, we hear the story of Mary and Martha. Mary is sitting at Jesus’ feet, while Martha is rushing around doing all the necessary chores of hospitality. We have all experienced, at times, the tension between spending time with our guests and managing the activities required to care for them. This tension is also reflected in our faith life: how to balance participating in the work of God while spending time in God’s presence.
