Where Do I Sit? - Sunday 8 AM

This weekend, Jesus advises that instead of choosing a place of honor, one that might be reserved for someone else, you should sit in the lowest place. When the host sees you, he may invite you to a more important place, and you will gain great honor. Jesus said, “All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Growing up, when called to supper, my brother, sisters, and I knew exactly where we sat at the table. This followed into adulthood. The challenge was when spouses began to join us, and we had to adjust our seating arrangements. At God’s table, we do not have to search for a place to sit; we all have a place at God’s table of grace.
