Homeward Bound - Sunday 8 AM
Series: The Table
Summary
This weekend, we heard the story of the Prodigal Son. As with many of Jesus’ parables, we tend to identify with a character in the story. Some remember that feeling of the father and the grief of sending his child into the world and not knowing if he would see him again. Some will remember their own experiences of leaving home, making mistakes, and wondering if they could ever go back. Others will identify with the older son, asking, “Dad, why are we celebrating the misbehavior of my brother when I have been faithful to you my whole life?”
The beauty of this parable is that it is not about us; it highlights God’s relationship with us. God never says that a person is a “lost cause”. For God is always faithful and wants only to be in relationship with us. This day, may you really believe that God cares about you!
